In an effort to enhance onboard services and address passengers' concerns, the NF Railway has introduced the role of 'Train Captain' on premium trains starting from yesterday.
Pranav Jyoti Sharma, the Chief Public Relations Officer of NF Railway, stated, "The Train Captain will hold overall responsibility for the train and ensure that all railway-provided amenities are available to passengers."
The Train Captain's responsibilities encompass various aspects, including coach and toilet cleanliness, water availability, and the proper functioning of electrical fixtures such as lights, fans, and charging points.
Sharma further explained,
The Railway Board has made the decision to implement a new concept where a single individual, the Train Captain, will coordinate with all onboard teams responsible for housekeeping, catering, electrical systems, mechanical operations, as well as the RPF/GRP squad throughout the entire journey of the train.
The Train Captain will be identifiable by a badge, and all onboard personnel, whether employed by the railways or outsourced agencies, will report to them.
