Detailed Description of Each Quota

General Quota 

The General Quota is the most common and widely used reservation category. It is available for the general public and can be booked by anyone. 
Eligibility : The General Quota is open to all passengers without any specific eligibility criteria. 
Allocation Process Seats in the General Quota are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Tatkal Quota 

The Tatkal Quota is designed for passengers who need to make last-minute bookings. It comes with specific booking timings and higher fares. 
Features: Tatkal tickets can be booked for most trains 24 hours before the journey. 
Booking: Timing Tatkal bookings open at 10:00 AM for AC classes and 11:00 AM for non-AC classes.

Ladies Quota 

The Ladies Quota is reserved exclusively for women passengers traveling alone or with children. It offers a safe and comfortable journey. 
Purpose: The Ladies Quota aims to provide safety and comfort to women passengers. 
Availability: A limited number of seats are reserved for this quota in every train.

Senior Citizen Quota

The Senior Citizen Quota provides benefits to elderly passengers above a certain age. It includes discounts and priority in booking. 
Age Criteria: Passengers above the age of 60 for men and 58 for women qualify for this quota. 
Booking Benefits: Senior citizens get a 40% discount on ticket fares and priority in reservation.

Foreign Tourist Quota 

The Foreign Tourist Quota is for tourists visiting India. It ensures that foreign travellers have access to train reservations.
Who Can Avail? Foreign tourists holding a valid visa are eligible for this quota. 
Booking Process: Foreign tourists can book tickets at International Tourist Bureaus. 

Defence Quota 

Reserved for members of the armed forces, the Defence Quota has specific documentation requirements and serves as a priority category. 
Reserved for Armed Forces: This quota is reserved for armed forces personnel and their families. 
Documentation: Valid military ID and authorisation are required for booking.

Parliament House Quota 

This quota is limited and allocated for government officials traveling on parliamentary duties. It requires proper verification. 
Limited Availability: This quota is limited and allocated for official government purposes. 
Verification: Travellers must provide relevant documents to avail of this quota. 

Handicapped Quota

Yuva Quota
