Full Form of UTS 

UTS stands for Unreserved Ticketing System. It is an initiative by Indian Railways to provide a seamless and convenient ticket booking experience for passengers traveling on unreserved trains. 

What is UTS Ticket Booking 

UTS (Unreserved Ticketing System) is a mobile app and a web-based platform introduced by Indian Railways in the year 2014 for the booking of unreserved tickets online. This system allows passengers to book and collect unreserved tickets for local, suburban, and mainline trains without having to visit the ticket counters at railway stations. It aims to streamline the ticket booking process and reduce the need for physical ticket counters. 

UTS Ticket Booking app 

The UTS (Unreserved Ticketing System) Ticket Booking app is a mobile application developed by Indian Railways to facilitate the purchase of tickets without the need for passengers to visit a physical ticket counter at railway stations.It is available on Android , iOS and windows platforms. 
Users can register and create an account, select the source and destination stations, and then book unreserved tickets for the desired train. The app also provides features such as platform tickets and season tickets. The payment for these tickets can be made through various online modes. 

Prerequisite to avail services on UTS app 

Smartphone : Android or IOS smartphones are necessary for using the UTS Ticket Booking App.
Connectivity: The phone should have a minimum GPRS connectivity to access the app's services.
Advance Deposit: Passengers are required to deposit money in advance into their Railway Wallet (R-Wallet) for seamless transactions. 
GPS : To enjoy a paperless journey and avail platform tickets, the smartphone must be GPS-enabled. 

Steps to Download UTS mobile app 

  • Visit the Google Play Store or Apple App Store or windows. 
  •  Search for "UTS on Mobile". 
  •  Click on the "Install" button. 
  •  Once installed, open the app and create an account. 

Step by Step Guide to register on UTS app 

During the registration process, the passenger is required to provide the following information:
Mobile Number: The mobile number used for the registration process and subsequent ticket booking. This mobile number serves as the default user ID for application login. 
Name: The full name of the passenger. 
City: The passenger's city of residence, utilised for customising the application interface, such as filtering source stations during booking. 
ID Card: The passenger must select an ID card type from the provided list. It is the passenger's responsibility to provide accurate information, and any misuse of wrong or fake ID cards is not allowed. To complete the registration: The passenger initiates the process by pressing "Generate OTP," and a One-Time Password (OTP) is sent via SMS to the specified mobile number. The received OTP is then entered by the passenger into the application to finalise the registration process. 

Salient Feature of UTS Ticket Booking App 

Paperless Tickets: Users can opt for paperless tickets, eliminating the need for physical tickets. 
Platform Ticket Booking:The app enables users to book season tickets for regular travellers. 
Season Ticket Booking: The app enables users to book season tickets for regular travellers. 
QR Code Booking: Users can book tickets using QR codes displayed at stations. 
Quick Booking:The app offers a quick booking feature for frequently traveled routes. 
Show Ticket: It is a function designed for passengers to present their tickets when requested by the TTE/TC during the journey. This feature is specifically tailored for paperless tickets. 
Cancel Ticket: This feature enables passengers to cancel a ticket before obtaining a printed copy at the kiosk. cancellation of paperless tickets is not permissible. 
R Wallet: Tickets can only be booked through R-WALLET. 
History and Booking Records: The app maintains a history of previous five (5) bookings, making it convenient for users to track their travel records. 


 UTS Ticket Booking rules 

The Railways have implemented a system for issuing computerised unreserved tickets.
 
Advance Booking: Passengers can purchase tickets three days in advance (excluding the date of the journey) for non-suburban stations located beyond 200 kilometers. 
Same-Day Booking: For suburban tickets covering distances up to 200 kilometers, tickets will be issued only on the day of the journey. 
Geo-Fencing area: Ticket booking is restricted and not permitted within this specified Geo-Fencing area i.e 5km radius from the source station and GPS coordinates of suburban railway tracks, along with an additional 15 meters on both sides of the tracks. 
Return/Reverse Tickets: The system allows for the issuance of return or reverse tickets from all locations identified as cluster stations. 
Age: Only person of at least Seventeen years of age (17) are eligible to book tickets through UTS app. 

Types of UTS Ticket booking 

 The app enables to perform normal , Quick , QR based , Season and platform Tickets in following two ticketing modes: 
  •  Paperless Ticket 
  •  Paper Ticket 

 Paperless Ticket 

  • Passengers can book Journey Ticket, Season Ticket, and Platform Ticket through the mobile app.
  • Electronic tickets are stored on the mobile device and passengers can use the 'Show Ticket' which enables a unique QR code that can be scanned by Ticket Checking Staff for validation. GPS must be enabled on the smartphone. 
  • The journey should commence within one hour after booking. 
  • Season Tickets can be issued or renewed without GPS. 
  • If unable to show the mobile ticket, the passenger will be treated as Without Ticket. 

 Paper Ticket 

 Passengers can also book paper tickets using the UTS app. After booking, passengers receive a Booking ID and other ticket details. They can then visit designated Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs)/Co-TVM at the source station to print the paper ticket using the Booking ID. 

 UTS Ticket booking Online 

User need to authenticate to access the application which involves logging in with the mobile number and password.The passenger initiates the ticket booking process by : 
  • Select source station from a list of stations. 
  • Enter either partial or full name of the destination station 
  • If there are multiple routes between the source and destination, the application displays a list of routes for the passenger to choose from. 
  •  If a single route is available, the application proceeds to the next screen. If the selected source and destination fall within the Geo-Fencing area, the passenger receives an alert indicating that GPS location will be checked. 
  •  Enter journey details like number of adult and child passengers. The maximum number of passengers allowed per ticket depends on the class: Second Class - 4 passengers, First Class - 1 passenger. 
  • For Return Journey, the passenger is not prompted for Train Type as Return tickets are allowed only in Ordinary Trains. 
  • The application displays the fare for the ticket and the available balance in the RWallet. Upon confirming the ticket by pressing 'Book Ticket,' the system captures the passenger’s current GPS location. If the location is out of the Geo-fencing area, ticket is booked with a confirmation message. 
  • The passenger is prompted to save the ticket information in Frequent Travel Information (FTI) if the route is not available in the passenger's FTI profile which helps in quick booking. 

UTS Ticket cancellation charges 

  • Cancellation is not allowed for Paperless journey , seasons and platforms Tickets. 
  • Paper based tickets once booked but not printed can be cancelled on UTS Mobile APP without any time limit i.e 23:59 hours. 
  • Paper based tickets once booked and printed can be cancelled on UTS Railway counters within the cancellation time limit. 
  • The refund amount after deduction shall be credited in to R-wallet immediately. 
  • Paper Ticket with booking amount greater then cancellation charges can be cancelled using UTS app before printing of ticket. 

UTS Ticket booking download/printout 

Paper tickets can be downloaded or printed from the UTS app or at ATVM kiosks at railway stations. 

Validity of UTS Ticket 

UTS tickets are valid for the chosen train and date only. They expire at midnight on the date of travel. 

 R-Wallet 

  • Railway Wallet (R-WALLET) is created upon successful registration with a zero balance. 
  • No additional fees are incurred for creating the R-Wallet. 
  • R-Wallet can be recharged either at any UTS counter or through the recharge option available on the https://www.utsonmobile.indianrail.gov.in website. 
  • Minimum recharge value is Rs.100, with multiples up to Rs.10000.

    1. There is no such limit in one day only the thing is that 4 person in single ticket.
